Adolescent Counseling in Dallas

A supportive space to grow into who you're becoming.

Helping teens navigate a confusing, exciting, and formative time of life.

Our Approach

Adolescence is a wonderful time for innovation and creativity — but it can also be a confusing and overwhelming one. It’s never too early to work on self-understanding and self-esteem. Our approach with adolescents may include expressive arts when words get in the way, along with career assessments to support greater self-awareness and direction for the future. Meet our team of adolescent therapists.

What We Work On

What to Expect

Adolescent counseling at PATH is:

Your therapist will work with your family to find the right balance between confidentiality and keeping parents appropriately informed.

A Gentle Note for Parents

It’s common to feel unsure about therapy for your teen — will they engage, will it help, what will change? These are all fair questions. Progress with adolescents often shows up first in small ways: a little more openness at the dinner table, a little less conflict, a bit more self-confidence. Trust the process, and stay in communication with your teen’s therapist. Many parents also find support helpful for themselves during this season. Our individual therapy page has more.

Important Note

Confidentiality guidelines for minors are discussed at intake and may vary depending on your teen’s age and the nature of concerns raised (including any safety concerns, where disclosure to parents/guardians is required by law).

Every teen deserves a space to be understood. Let’s help your teen find theirs

FAQ

Teens open up more when they trust that their sessions are private, so we protect their confidentiality while keeping parents appropriately informed — especially about anything involving safety. Your teen’s therapist will explain exactly how this balance works during intake.

We work with adolescents, ages 12 and up.
Contact our team to talk through whether we’re the right fit for your teen’s age and needs.

Reluctance is normal, and it doesn’t mean therapy won’t work. Our therapists focus on building trust first, and approaches like expressive arts give teens ways to engage beyond just talking. Many hesitant teens settle in after a session or two.

Progress with teens often shows up gradually — a bit more openness, less conflict at home, steadier moods. Your teen’s therapist will also check in with you at appropriate intervals so you’re not left guessing.

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, the “No Surprises Act,” health care providers are required to give clients who do not have insurance or who choose not to use their insurance an estimate of the bill for health care items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) showing costs of items and services you can reasonably expect for your health care needs. The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may dispute the bill.

  • You may contact the health care provider listed to let them know the billed charges are higher than the GFE. You may ask them to update the bill to match the GFE, negotiate the bill, or ask if financial assistance is available.
  • You may start a dispute resolution process with the U.S.Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). If you choose to use the dispute resolution process, you must start the dispute process within 120 calendar days of the date on the original bill.
