Individual Therapy in Dallas
Support for whatever life brings your way.
A dedicated space to understand yourself, work through challenges, and reclaim your sense of choice and direction.
Our Approach
Life throws many surprises, and while we cannot predict the outcome of any situation, we can take control of how we respond to them. Individual therapy sessions at PATH support your power of choice over whatever life may bring — whether that’s anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, trauma, or simply the desire to understand yourself more fully. If you’re looking for support for a teenager, see our adolescent counseling page.

What to Expect
Because each person has different issues and goals, your therapeutic approach will be tailored to your specific needs. Sessions are:
- Confidential and non-judgmental
- Paced according to your comfort and goals
- Focused on building on your existing strengths, not just addressing what's wrong
A Gentle Note on the Process
Asking for help is not a sign of weakness — it’s a sign of self-awareness and courage. Many people come to therapy already handling a great deal on their own; individual therapy simply gives you more tools, more perspective, and a place to be fully heard.
Important Note
Therapy is often most effective as a complement to, not a replacement for, medical care. If medication may be helpful alongside your therapy, your clinician can discuss this and coordinate with a prescriber as needed.
You have more choice in how you respond to life than it may feel like right now. Individual therapy helps you find it.
FAQ
What happens during the first session?
The first session is mostly a conversation. Your therapist will ask about what brings you in, what you’re hoping for, and a bit of your history — at whatever pace feels comfortable. There’s nothing you need to prepare or figure out ahead of time.
Can therapy help with anxiety?
Many people seek therapy when anxiety starts affecting sleep, work, relationships, or their ability to rest. Therapy can help you better understand what drives your anxiety and build practical ways of responding to it. Your therapist will tailor the approach to your specific experience.
How often should I attend therapy?
Most clients begin with weekly sessions, then adjust the rhythm as things progress. You and your therapist will decide together what frequency best supports your goals.
Do you accept insurance?
Some of our independent providers are in-network with Aetna, United Healthcare (UHC), and BCBS. For other plans, we can provide documentation to support out-of-network reimbursement. Contact our team and we’ll help you sort out your options.
What if I’m nervous about starting therapy?
That’s completely normal — most people feel some hesitation before their first session. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear goal to begin. Reaching out is the only step you need to take today; we’ll walk through the rest together.
